Our Art and Design workshops are a unique, interactive and creative way to investigate the Museum’s collection. Get hands-on with a range of resources to make links to the study of materials, form, movement and shape as well as nature and the body.

Animals in Armour

Explore armours from the animal world using our extensive natural history collection. This session includes printing and stamping.

Hidden Secrets

Reveal the armours and clothes of Medieval knights and ladies, with our large collection of church brasses. Get to grips with brass rubbing.

Spots, Stripes and Scales

Using our natural history collection for inspiration, this session explores the use of pattern in nature, with print-making and stencilling.

Did you know?

Going off half-cocked

Many older guns have a form of safety that prevents the gun from being fired when the hammer is pulled halfway back. Sometimes a fault develops which allows the gun to fire when the hammer is in the half-cocked position, before a proper aim can be taken.
